Just saw this email on my "spam account". It was not with Blizzard's look'n-feel, but they've used WoW logos etc. to make it look like it's from Blizzard.

Notice how the two first liks are correct, but the third points to somwhere fishy (dead link now, but it was live earlier). Sneaky bastards.

Greetings

An investigation of your World of Warcraft account has found strong evidence that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with Blizzard's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B which can be found here:
WoW -> Legal -> End User License Agreement (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/eula.html)
and Section 8 of the Terms of Use found here:
WoW -> Legal -> Terms of Use (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/legal/termsofuse.htmltarget=)

The investigation will be continued by Blizzard administration to determine the action to be taken against your account. If your account is found violating the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated.
In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the original owner of the account.

It's a common farmer practice to hide your collection site under a genuine link. That's why I always hover my mouse above links before clicking. Somebody probably reported the scam, that's why the link is inactive. Dont' worry, they'll try again from another free hosting site :D

Another practice is to use a really long (and genuine domain name) as a subdomain - like "www.wow-europe.com" (if the hosting site permits) to hide the hoster's domain (in this case freehostia.com)-.

Common sense dictates to always check the site displayed in your adress bar (sometimes even that can be spoofed, but it's a bit more difficult) before entering sensitive information. If your spider sense is tingling and you're sensing a scam, use a fake username and password to test the site. If it returns a positive feedback or no feedback at all, or redirects you to the real website, it's a scam. Report the respective site to it's ISP/hosting company.

Again a scammer email, and this time the scammin page is still live. Notice the domain name (yellow text) and also that if you try to view the page in french or german it's javascript:void(0), meaning the scamming loosers fail to even make a proper fake site :-)

with mails like this, keep 1 thing in mind:
Blizzard will never ask so a ban can be prevented. First they will ban, THEN you can start proving things. Always.

Must be 2much same as mine, specialy in winter (cold) period. Today kids got everything. Mine 8 and 11 y old, have in room, flat 32inch TV, dvd player/divx, from christmass PS3, computer but realy good one (it is my WoW backup machine :P) kable TV, and internet, IcyBox 305A/B so they stream from server even MORE cartons on our language from my comp which is like NAS server.....
And when i tell them to go and read book like LOTR any part that book is milion times than movie and that in their times i already readed hundreds and hundreds of books (almost 1-2 day every new book) and that we had cartoon ONLY 1 time a day in 19:15 5 min Tom & Jerry or Pink Panther before "central news" Ex Eastern block (:() they cant understand that , but reading a book ...still no chance on that exept for school. They wait that movie of that book come out...

Look at your own /played on all the characters you listed in a recent thread. Crot, I don't mean to be harsh, but it's something about being a role model too. Practice what you preach etc. You can't expect your kids to be fond of books or other "correct" stuff if they don't see this behaviour from their main role models in life; parents

Cheers!

Before you click anything, hover your mouse over a link and watch the status bar at the bottom, you can see where the link is actually going.
Because in an email, you can give any link a different name, while "under water" the link is totally different.

I too am spammed by those fake emails each day, I never even open them because I know Blizzard will never send out an email with a request to "verify" your account settings.
Also, there are only 2 domain names that I trust: wow-europe.com and battle.net, anything else is guaranteed fake (worldofwarcraft.com is US only).
