View Full Version : Arena Season 2 Delayed

Just been stated by blizz:
'As we mentioned in our initial announcement of the second arena season, the start of the next season is planned to coincide with the release of a small patch. Due to additional development time and testing needed we will be delaying the scheduled release of the patch, and thus the start of Arena Season 2 by one week, to June 19. This current schedule is of course subject to change as well.
Also, don't forget that team ratings will be reset to the default 1500 with the start of the new season, allowing all teams to once again compete for top honors with a fresh start.'
First Gladiator Tier 2 set information:

The set is slightly increase in stats, way better then Tier 5 (PvP wise). Only interesting thing is that resilience is increase only with 1 point / piece.

I really dont like what blizz is doing. Every x months buffing pvp items, on the thought that more and more people have T5, so "pvp-ers have to stay on par"....
I'd venture to say that T4 gladiator is still better then T5 on PVP, so i dont understand this buffing.

what is the connection? you get T6...they get the Merciless set....the 2 sets are made for 2 different thing: PvP and PvE.....

Esk,
Gladiator Set 2 looks like Tier 5 set. In the same way Gladiator set 1 looks like T4.

Easy answer - so people keep playing :)
At the end of Season 1, any team that played 5v5 on a competitive level (let's say top 100), will have full set, and quite a few unused points.
Giving Hate Crew as an example (who didn't start with the beginning of Season 1, but later, 1-2 months later), I now have full set, and will have 3-4000 points at the start of Season 2. Allora probably has 2 full sets by now :P and weapons.
Playing PvP on a casual level (15-1600 points, like Razyel for example), still gives you the opportunity to have 3-4 items from the set, or the weapon and 2 items. Rivers has 2 items and can easy get a 3rd, PvPing later into season 2 (after half or later), and getting points mainly from a 3v3 team with decent rating (1700-1800).
My point is, Gladiator gear is very easy to get unless you completly suck. If you play on competitive level, you'll have too many points and nothing to buy with, but that's normal, the thing is to give the avarage player a chance for a full set.
So, should blizzard make a Season 2 for arenas with 0 rewards? :)
I don't think so!
Looking at the entire Warrior set, the difference between arena set 1 and 2:
+639 armor
+38 str
+31 sta
+18 hit rating (1% hit)
+22 crit rating (1% crit)
+6 resilience
In other words the upgrade is very low. There were times when you can get that upgrade from 1 single item.
But, it looks hell better! Only this and makes it worth to spend the points!!
Flamewings and Draupnir the Hate Crew Dragons!!! (hell yes cause the warr set looks like a dragon). Just think how cool it's gonna be having 2 dragons charging!!

I am willing to bet 1000g that you will have full PVE T4, not even T5 when the pvp-ers will have full PVP T6. Because it's easier to get items from arena then by raiding. Now, what if PVP T6 is better in damage then PVE T4?

Very low? Are you serious?
That means each piece will get +7 str, + 6 sta, + 3 hit rating, + 4 crit rating and +1 resilience.
I dunno about you, but if my legs give me:
40 agi
30 sta
30 intelect
If i could get a new set of legs with
48 agi
36 sta
36 int
I'd consider it a pretty big upgrade.

You're playing to collect items or for fun?
It is nice Blizzard made (up to some point) these 2 ways - PvE and PvP - different. The items have different stats and purpose.

i do not play to have PvE T6....i play mainly for fun and to crack new instances, when i see a new boss down is way more rewarding for me that when i win a PvP game, and if i will get way easier better gear from PvP than i will do PvP and get them to use them into PvE cracking (but i doubt the PvP items will be good for PvE anytime soon)
BTW nihilum cracked all Black temple....this means they have T6 already....PvP-ers will have it way later then them......this directly means that for them is easier to get T6 than PvP gear :)

Well, think of it this way. DL is about to begin SSC, right? Glad season 1 = tier 4, which we already have for the most part (except Magtheridon). Glad seaon 2 = ssc/the eye, which many many guilds have already cracked/started cracking. Glad season 3 = tier 6, a few ppl already have tier 6, but glad season 3 is a looong way from now, so more guilds will have progressed to BT before season 3.

Arena season 1 ends in a few days. A non-dedicated arena player has 2-3 arena items, just like most our regular raiders (we're not hardcore) have about 2-3 T4 pieces. Sounds pretty balanced to me.
Edit: posted same time as Kraftur, so what I said is pretty much redundant now :)

do you really try to explain this to the ogre? :P
Ups....i mean dwarf :D

I would not say many..
On the other hand, there are not so many people with full Gladiator set around. Indeed it is easier to get Gladiator set but.. there are so few people doing arena.
If you look around there are way more people in T4 then Gladiator set.

Well, only on Zenedar, there are a few top-end guilds that have pwnt some of SSC (at least DT, EoF, Silvermoon on the alliance side afaik)... Now count all the servers, on some server there are loads more guilds that are cracking SSC, on some there are fewer... But it's still quite a lot of guilds :)

That's 3 guilds out of how many? 50? 100? Who are still working on SSC. You were talking about FULL T5 which means to complete both SSC and TK.
And please when you say many/few please refer to the entire 70-level player base not only to 15 guilds you know.

Anyway.. this goes off-topic.

Yeah, but is Zenedar amongst the best servers in terms of pve cracking? nope
There are many guilds on EU and US servers that have cleared both SSC and The Eye, and that before arena season 2 started. Check how many guilds will have full tier 5 by the time the highest ranked arena teams get enough points for full season 2 arena set. :)

Jeez. Where are the times when it was 1.1 : 1? :(

Being a PvE server on a PvE game is less important the ratio.

During season 1 you could only have max 5k arena points at one time. I doubt it'll be any different for season 2.

1. PVP set, since last patch, is not as easily obtainable.
2. If u are a very good PVE guild, meaning by that completing SSC, you would take ~2 month for full T5 (starting from scratch). If you are in a very good arena team (2200+ rating), you take about 2 month to get full set. The progression is about the same. Furthermore, PVE system is NOT competitive, which means you get things regardless of others, whilst PVP is a competitive system.
3. PVP requires you to be on your teem rooster in every week to get points, thus u cannot escape the raising on the ladder in a similar fashion to avoiding the "cracking" period of an instance, that many pve'rs do.
4. If it is so easy to get a full set in PVP, why don't you do it? TBH, all I can see is you never tried to have PVP achievments, yet you like to whine. Probably from your point of view it would be normal for blizzard to make whole new content as older instances are being cracked, with whole new loot, investing a lot of resources, but it isn't fair for them to add some items to a vendor (probably a 10 minute job and a bit of game design) for people that finished what is to be finished in the PVP system, just because you aren't in Nihilum to get imba gear before others?
