Arena point gain is intentionally different, and this is in-fact not a bug. A typical team will see a small change in their points, but players with very high or very low ratings will see a much larger change. Below is the new formula.
If rating<=1500 then
Points=0.38*rating-194
(note: this calculation can go negative, but will be floored at 0)
If rating>1500 then
Points=1426.79/(1+918.836*Power(2.71828, -0.00386405*rating))
Here is an Arena Calculator that uses the new formula: http://arena.onefingerzen.com/index.php?p=0
There are small differences for normal rating, but huge difference for big rating.
to gain 500 points /week you need:
5v5 team:~ 1607
3v3 team:~ 1701
2v2 team:~ 1766
to gain 1000 points /week you need:
5v5 team:~ 1987
3v3 team:~ 2271
2v2 team: Not possible
to gain 1075 points /week you need:
5v5 team:~ 2056
3v3 team:~ 2485
2v2 team: Not possible
It is for 5v5, 3v3 is 85% of 5v5, 2v2 is 70%.
