Arena Points Formulae released

Blizz has put up the formulae they will be using to calculate arena points at the end of each week:

X = Team Rating, Y = Arena Points
If X>1500: Y = 2894/(1+259*e^(-0.0025*X))
Else: Y = 0.206*X+99



Which generates the following table:

Given the current point costs shown on Thott (which is the same for the few items shown in their screenshot), it will take the top team five weeks to get a full set of armor plus a 2h or two 1h (or maybe 2-3 weeks longer since it will take a little while for a team to increase its rating). Meanwhile, the worst team will be able to buy a 2h after about three months.

Actually if you do the math, it will take more then 5 weeks even for top teams to get entire set/weapons. I don't know what K-value they use for calculating the new rating, but I think it will be quite low.

Ppl best start accumilating their honor to buy PVP gear for when they hit 70. PVP gear has the resilience stats, whereas PVE gear doesn't.

Heh.. you know that's rather silly :P Honor gain is exponentially with the level of the battleground.. If you PvP for 1 full week at lv40.. you'll probably get the honor of 1 day of PvP at lv60.. even less :)

Actually, in some cases doesn't worth to upgrade your 60 epic pvp weapons to 70 pvp weapons. As you can see for example, all 70 weapons are faster then 60 weapons, and for example for attacks like Hemo speed makes a difference.

arent the arena points divided by the amount of players, thus 5v5 getting only a little bit more then 2v2

this is better source i think, not only more optimistic but it seems true based on the points i got so far. so 2v2 1900 rating is actually over 500 points

the part about netherdrakes in the FAQ below was a bit interesting tho, can any1 post a link to some good source of information regarding the arena rewards at the end of the season for top teams , and how is with the netherdrakes ??

emmm any reliable source about the arena points ? coz its really strange, got 2065 in 2v2 on the chart it says its like ~500, one site says equally 700 , another says 816 :O
